Janibek - Mikhailovich Unified World Title Fight Off

WBO/IBF middleweight world champion Janibek Alimkhanuly was forced to withdraw from Saturday’s title defense against Andrei Mikhailovich at Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas after being hospitalised Thursday evening due to dehydration.

No Limit Boxing CEO George Rose said, “It’s bitterly disappointing for Andrei and everyone involved.”

“From what I understand Janibek was taken to hospital due to weight cut complications. We never want fighters to place themselves at risk, however it’s hard not to be disappointed when experienced fighters fail to make weight for such big fights.”

“We will be doing everything in our powers to ensure he gets his shot. We’ll be petitioning the IBF to make sure that happens.”

“In what was easily the biggest moment of his career, he had the chance to create history in becoming New Zealand’s first unified world champion taken away from him.”
