No Limit Boxing’s rising star Callum Peters returns to the ring next Wednesday night in Cairns eyeing off a shot at Australian boxing history — and the chance to do what no Australian male boxer has ever done before.

The 22-year-old middleweight and Paris 2024 Olympian is aiming to become the first Australian man to win gold at a World Championships and go on to claim a professional Australian title.

Peters will fight on Wednesday 25 June as part of a blockbuster No Limit Boxing card at the Cairns Convention Centre, headlined by former world champion Liam Paro and to-time world title challenger Liam Wilson.

“This Cairns card next week is massive. To be part of it, to share the week with guys like Liam Paro and Liam Wilson — I can’t wait!” Peters said.

“I want to test myself under pressure and keep building momentum before the Worlds. I love the challenge of juggling amateurs and pros.

“No Australian man has ever won gold at the Worlds — that’s the first box I want to tick.

“Then I want to prove I can back it up in the pros. I want to hold the Aussie belt knowing I’ve taken on the best in the world and then come back home and come out on top too.”

Following Cairns, Peters will return to national team duties as part of Australia’s campaign toward the 2025 IBA World Championships in Liverpool, beginning with a World Boxing Cup event in Kazakhstan, a pre-departure camp in Canberra, and final preparations in Glasgow.

Australia has won five bronze medals in the history of the men’s World Championships — most recently by Justis Huni (2019) and Joseph Goodall (2017). No male boxer has ever claimed gold.

“This is about pushing the limits for Australian boxing,” Peters said.

“If I can show it’s possible — to win at the top level as an amateur and then succeed in the pros — then maybe more kids will believe they can too.”

No Limit Boxing CEO George Rose said Peters represents the next wave of elite Australian boxing talent.

“What Callum’s doing is rare,” Rose said. “He’s already proven himself against the best amateurs in the world and he’s only 22.

“The way he carries himself, the way he trains — he’s already the real deal. He’s got that x-factor and ‘next big thing’ energy about him.

“There’s no doubt in my mind he’ll win the Australian title. But what excites us most is that he wants more than that. He wants to lead a new generation — and that’s exactly the kind of fighter we want in Australian boxing.”

Peters’ fight on Wednesday 25 June will be broadcast live on Fox Sports and Kayo as part of No Limit’s Fight Week in Cairns which kicks of on Monday with the press conference live from Cairns Lagoon.
